MAHAMA URGES FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF GHANA TO BEGIN IMMEDIATELY.

John Dramani Mahama, a former president, has encouraged the National Democratic Congress to immediately start creating the Ghana they both want since the nation is "sailing on perilous seas."

According to him, the socioeconomic underpinning of the nation has recently been not only endangered but also shattered and dislocated.

The NDC flagbearer stated that corruption and the robbery of the public coffers have reached a crescendo during his official acceptance speech event at the University for Development Studies in Tamale.

He said that Ghana's ranking in the Press Freedom Index has declined over the past two years and that the NPP administration does not care about the rights of citizens, especially journalists.

On the other side, he said that the National Health Insurance is dead; "the plan is starved of finances by the government's capping policy and the unwillingness to deliver earnings from the National Health Insurance charge to the National Health Insurance Authority.

"Patients are confronted with an empty program that guarantees only the retrieval of their medical records and consultation; even the most fundamental medications like cough syrups and antibiotics must be purchased by the patients themselves."

Due to "gross mismanagement of the country's economy by a grossly inept finance minister and economic management team," he said that middle-class retirees are now, for the first time in Ghana's history, facing an existential danger to their existence and financial instability.

"Newborn babies are not receiving the full complement of childhood vaccines for the first time in recorded history, yet these newborns and the younger generations face the heavy burden of inheriting a suffocating national debt that currently stands at almost six hundred billion Ghana cedis," he said.

According to Mr. Mahama, the NDC has no choice but to prevail in the elections of 2024 since the NPP government's lack of direction is a glaringly unsettling factor.

"This is to put our nation back on the road of development and prosperity. There is hope for our nation; I come to you, wonderful people of Ghana," he stated.
