The Nadowli-Kaleo Constituency was brought to prominence by Alban Sumani Kingsford Bagbin, the seven-term MP for the district, from a remote part of the Upper West Region's primarily peri-urban environment.
When Mr. Bagbin decided not to run for the seat for the eighth time in January 2021, his tenure as a lawmaker came to an end. At the same time, he was dramatically elevated to the position of Speaker of Parliament.
Because of his constant presence in Ghana's politics throughout the Fourth Republic, Mr. Bagbin, in many respects, became the constituency's ambassador.
There are 11 parliamentary districts in the area, including the constituency. The original Nadowli Constituency, which gave rise to it, was divided into two in 2012, with the Nadowli-West Constituency acting as the other. The constituency is located in the center of the area, serves as the Nadowli-Kaleo District's district capital, and is bordered to the west by Burkina Faso. It shares borders with the Wa Municipality to the south, Jirapa and Lambussie-Karni to the north, and Daffiama/Bussie/Issa districts to the east.

There are 77,057 people living in the 2,594 square kilometers of Nadowli-Kaleo Constituency, 40,064 of whom are female and 36,993 of whom are male. About 40 miles separate the district from Wa, the regional seat, and this proximity encourages trade between the district and Burkina Faso, which is next door.
None of the villages in the Nadowli District have achieved urban status according to the national definition of an urban settlement. Out of the 144 settlements, only 15 had populations greater than 2,000.
The constituency includes major towns including Sankana, Sombo, and Serekpere. Others include Tangasie, Charikpong, Umbo, Goli, and Kalsegra. Takpo, Dapuori, Duong, Nanville, Yiziere, and Kaniyi make up the remaining group.

Since agriculture is the area's primary industry and the district normally has a rural economy, 85% of the population works in this sector. The remaining portion works in small businesses, agroprocessing, welding, manufacturing, and handicrafts, among other activities.

More than 50% of the population works for themselves, while more than 86% of people live in rural regions. The district's economy is mostly supported by micro and small businesses, many of which are involved in agricultural activities like mushroom farming. Other pre- and post-harvest tasks include crop drying, animal traction, and agro-processing, which includes the processing of grains, vegetables, and seeds.
The remaining activities include industrial activities, including creating soap, baking, and confectionery, as well as traditional crafts like textiles, leatherwork, and handicrafts.
