Joe Ghartey, a potential presidential contender, is urging New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates to choose a president with both credibility and experience in order to win the general elections in 2024.

As part of his visit to the Ashanti Region, the former minister of railway development spoke with FOX FM, during which he emphasized the value of compassion and loyalty in a leader.

If the delegates wanted to dispel the "eight years myth" and take the party forward, Mr. Ghartey pleaded with them to support him.

Since the NPP's founding in 1992, Mr. Ghartey has persistently fought for the party's principles and ran for office to advance the nation.

He emphasized that railway travel is his top priority and stated his determination to concentrate on creating a better transport system for Ghana. We must always work to move ahead and not backward, Mr. Ghartey emphasized, underscoring the importance of development.

Speaking to Angel FM, a different Kumasi-based radio station, Mr. Ghartey said that the Justice for All program, which he founded, was responsible for significantly easing jail overcrowding in Ghana. This program drastically reduced the proportion of remand inmates from 33% to 9% by bringing the judicial system into prisons to remedy wrongful incarcerations.

Mr. Ghartey was inspired to start the life-changing program after meeting a young woman who had been wrongfully detained while visiting the overcrowded Kumasi Central Prison.

In order to decrease the number of remand detainees in their individual jails, he emphasised that other African nations, such as Kenya, have implemented programmes along similar lines.

The senator praised these programmes and reaffirmed his dedication to improving the lives of the constituents he represents.

To choose a flagbearer for the forthcoming elections in 2024, the NPP set the date of their presidential primary for November 4, 2023. Mr, Joe Ghartey will compete against other prominent figures within the party, including Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, Mr. Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, Mr. Boakye Agyako, Mr. Kennedy Agyapong, Mr. Kwabena Agyapong, Mr. Francis Addai-Nimoh, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who have all declared their intentions to seek the party's mandate for the 2024 polls.
