Throughout a tumultuous season, the Scot faced a number of games that were considered "must-wins."
David Moyes, the manager of West Ham, has acknowledged that he has come close to being fired multiple times this year.
Throughout a tumultuous Premier League season, the Scot has faced a number of'must-win' games, but his team has come through on each occasion.
But things are looking much better now that West Ham has avoided relegation and advanced to its first European final in 47 years in the Europa Conference League.
Moyes would have converted a dismal season into one of the most successful in the club's 128-year history if they defeat Fiorentina in Prague on June 7 and win their first trophy since the FA Cup in 1980.
Seasons are long and you can never predict how they will end out, but Moyes predicted that this might be one of West Ham's best-ever campaigns.
"There's still work to be done in the Premier League, but seventh place last year and reaching the semifinals of the Europa League was big, and in some respects it's definitely cost us this season.
"However, winning a European championship will more than make up for all the other mishaps this year," he said.
"There have been times this season when it was challenging and there were parts that weren't so pleasurable. Sometimes, when things aren't quite going well, you need to show a bit of tenacity.
"I might have easily lost my job on a number of occasions, but you need good people who understand how you work and that makes life a lot simpler, and the board has been really supportive. I hope that in some ways this vindicates their confidence in the actions they took.
"I didn't doubt myself, but I was more disappointed that I couldn't exactly get our rhythm back. But throughout my career, I've found a way to triumph even when my teams weren't doing well.
"Three times when we were in this situation, we were able to avoid relegation, and I've been called back here twice before to help the club do that. I believe I can still find a way to win games.
