Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, a flagbearer candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has assured party members that if they support him at the Super Delegates Conference in August and the National Delegates Conference in November of this year, he will revive the UP tradition and give its supporters hope.
He claimed that even though the party had a very solid foundation upon which to 'break the 8', its supporters were not pleased with the current state of their economies.
He pointed out that the lack of jobs was partly to blame for these economic difficulties and promised the party members that if he were given the go-ahead to represent the party, he would later serve as the country's president.
"The accusation that we haven't benefited from the party is heard loud and clear everywhere I go, and it is true.
Members of our party do not have employment.
As a result, they have low morale.
We require a leader who can turn things around and who will arouse optimism.
I have volunteered to be the party leader for this reason.
I am the only one who can accomplish it, and my track record is out for all to see.
If you vote for me, I won't let you down, he assured them.
When discussing his vision for the party and other topics with the NPP's Greater Accra Regional Executive last Tuesday in Accra, Dr. Afriyie Akoto made the comment that when he becomes the UP Tradition's flag bearer and then the President of Ghana, the nation as a whole,
Speaking about his plans for the party and the nation, Dr. Afriyie Akoto emphasized that he had generated thousands of jobs for labor professionals and the hordes of jobless young people while serving as the minister of food and agriculture. He boasted of this accomplishment.
He went on to say that these occupations had a beneficial effect on people's lives, highlighting the fact that he held the key to opening up work prospects for party members and the general public.
