The Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC) has welcomed the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) as a strategic partner.
Professor Abednego Feehi Okoe Amartey, Vice-Chancellor of the UPSA, would thereby represent the institution on the CWEIC Global Advisory Council.
The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) is a prestigious state university that offers higher education in Ghana in both academic and professional business subjects.
According to a press release from the UPSA's Registrar, Dr. Koryoe Anim-Wright, the organisation has more than 50 years of experience and has earned a reputation as the oldest human resource development institution in Ghana for professional accounting and management.
It stated that the CWEIC was a commercial, not-for-profit membership organisation with a formal mandate from the Commonwealth Heads of Government to facilitate trade and investment throughout the 56 member nations of the Commonwealth and that it boasted a vast network of more than 130 strategic partners, including Commonwealth governments, businesses, multilateral institutions, and the academic community.
It said that the CWEIC has established a reputation as a reliable middleman, facilitating crucial links between industry and government as well as between strategic partners eager to cooperate.
It stated that UPSA opted to join the CWEIC network to create new strategic partnerships and international collaboration after a visit to Ghana by the CWEIC Deputy Chairman, Lord Swire.

Professor Amartey commented on the news by saying, "UPSA is very thrilled to be a member of CWEIC.
This partnership will give us the chance to establish symbiotic relationships that will create opportunities for our students and faculty while enhancing our offerings, which is important to us as a forward-thinking university that wants its graduates to be the most sought-after by top employers and its faculty to be the leading resource for the transfer of knowledge to industry.
16 years after joining the UPSA, Professor Amartey was appointed vice chancellor in 2017.
The university's prestige and infrastructure have risen significantly under his leadership.
The number of students has increased from 11,500 to 20,240, while academic offerings have increased by more than 50%.
Numerous awards have been given in recognition of his outstanding leadership.
Lord Swire, speaking on behalf of the CWEIC, stated that it was "delighted to welcome the University of Professional Studies as the newest strategic partner."
We are eager to aid UPSA in accomplishing its goals and forming new alliances.
Professor Amartey's commitment to and conviction in the value of providing specialist education for the growth of professional services is demonstrated by the university's amazing expansion.
"These services play a critical role in the growth and development of Commonwealth trade and investment," he added. "They give essential assistance to businesses and organisations, enabling them to function more efficiently and effectively.
The founder, Nana J.K. Opoku Ampomah, founded the institute in 1965 as the Institute of Professional Studies, which at the time was the sole institution of higher learning.
