After winning a return to the Champions League for his Manchester United club, Erik ten Hag has called for additional team strengthening.
With one game remaining, United's dominant 4-1 victory over Chelsea at Old Trafford on Thursday guaranteed a top-four finish.
The Red Devils' final Premier League match is against Fulham on Sunday, followed by a match against Manchester City in the FA Cup final.
The Dutchman is already considering how to close the gap between United and City in the forthcoming transfer window.
Ten Hag said, "This club belongs in the Champions League. The major goal was to place in the top four. The opposition is fierce. There are numerous teams with excellent rosters, top-notch coaches, and huge budgets.
"It's the maximum for now, but we want more, and I'm becoming impatient. The bar needs to be raised. Although Manchester City is playing excellent football, there is still plenty to be done.
"In the summer, we can train with our current group, but we need to get stronger.
"At this time, it's tough to say; we need to see how the transfer window plays out, but it seems obvious that we need more.
"We want to win each and every game, but as I've just said, it's difficult here. Particularly this season, there are some pretty talented teams. Manchester City is performing remarkably well right now. Although we are headed in the right direction, there is still work to be done. It's still in construction.
Ten Hag acknowledged that a top-four finish can be compared to winning a prize, but he insisted that this is insufficient for him.
"I think being in the top four is a wonderful starting point in this league, but yes, we want to contend for the championship. But it must be plausible. Once you have your squad assembled at the conclusion of the transfer window, you can declare whether or not it is practical, according to Ten Hag.
We've made progress with this team and this squad, but if we want to compete for the highest, we need better players. We are now far away, so we have a lot of work to do.
