At the inaugural Ghana Business League Awards, which were hosted on Friday, May 12, 2023, at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra, a number of companies and corporate organisations were recognised.

"Celebrating leading businesses and benchmarking incredible business acumen" was the subject of the event. Several famous Ghanaian businesses in the manufacturing, supply, and service sectors were recognised at the awards event for their outstanding performance in the year under consideration.

The Ghana Business League honoured notable organisations in industries like telecommunications, real estate, and advertising. It was an initiative of Maven Communications with support from the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), Magic Wave Consult, Silicon House Production, and the University College of Management Studies.

Dr Noble John Otumfour Watson, CEO of Mayfair Estates, received the top honour for excellence in business leadership.

Joissam Ghana Limited, which won the Business Leader of the Year award in water drilling and general civil engineering, was one of the other winners that evening.

The Medical Diagnostics award went to MDS-Lancet Labs Ghana Limited, and the Electrical Appliance Supply & Retail award went to Kab-Fam Ghana Limited.

It was important to acknowledge the organisers' efforts in highlighting the contributions made by businesses and corporate sectors to the national economy, said Hon. Kofi Ahenkorah Marfo, a Member of Parliament for the Achiase constituency and the event's guest speaker.

He emphasised that the government saw it as essential to shift the economy from one that was reliant on the production and sale of basic commodities to one that was industrialised and added value.

He cited this as the reason why the government is starting an ambitious industrial transformation strategy with involvement from the business sector.

"The Government of Ghana has proposed programmes like the One District, One Factory project, which aims to generate wealth and jobs.

"The various initiatives by the government are expected to unleash the energies of businesspeople and stimulate the entrepreneurial potential of Ghana," he stated.

A team from Berock Construction Limited receives a prize from the mayor of Accra Metropolitan Authority (AMA) for winning business leader of the year in construction.

The Ghana Business League's awarding procedure, which began on September 1st, 2022, and was completed on January 31st, 2023, included study and examination of possible awards.

From February 1 through February 28, 2023, the awarding board and stakeholders ranked the business league table.

Mr. Stephen Djaba, who also serves on the boards of the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA), the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), and the National Nuclear Research Institute (NNRI) of the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission, presided over the awarding committee.

The chance afforded by companies and corporate entities to operate in accordance with industry standards and pinpoint areas for considerable development is one of the numerous objectives of the Ghana Business League Awards.
