At a brief ceremony, the Silas Amoah Foundation presented 60 pieces of furniture, five desktop computers, and their accessories to the Adakura Basic School in the Bolgatanga East District of the Upper East Region, which has been struggling with insufficient equipment.

With over 369 students, the elementary school in particular has, throughout the years, been unable to keep up with the demand of the school's expanding student body.

As a result, some kids at the school were forced to sit on the floor to participate in academic activities due to a lack of furniture, which was upsetting and demotivating for the children.

In order to solve the issue, the foundation decided it would be beneficial to donate furniture to fill the school's furniture gap, allowing students to study in comfort.

alerted to the situation

The foundation's founder, Mathew Silas Amoah, who is a native of the area, stated during the brief ceremony that he was made aware of the situation when some students in the school had to lie on the ground to study owing to a lack of furniture.

According to him, it is no longer acceptable for schoolchildren to study on the ground in order to obtain a basic education. As a native, I thus chose to save them by supplying the furniture for the classrooms.

The government is undoubtedly overburdened trying to handle the plethora of problems the education sector faces; therefore, it is up to private citizens and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to step up and help.

Neglect

Although it is one of the oldest schools in the district and has produced many people who are today in important positions in society, he highlighted that the institution has been neglected.

He did, however, reassure the school administration that the foundation would always be available to help with some of their problems in order to improve teaching and learning.

He said on the PCs that they were intended to help the school with hands-on instruction in information and communication technology (ICT).

Gratitude

Celina Baba, the headmistress of the primary school, praised the foundation for responding to their distress appeal for furniture because it would stop students from sitting on the floor to study and others from bringing stools to school to sit on them for learning. She could not contain her happiness as she expressed her gratitude.

The Junior High School's headmaster, Safianu Yakubu, said the foundation's gifts will significantly enhance the academic programmes at the school.
