For the Yorkshire club's final four games of the season, the former England manager was appointed.
After Leeds' relegation from the Premier League was sealed with a 4-1 loss to Tottenham at home, manager Sam Allardyce expressed regret to the club's supporters.
Allardyce, who Leeds had contacted in desperation with four games left, urged the club to swiftly resolve its ownership dispute in order to support their effort to immediately leave the Sky Bet Championship.
The former England manager declared he had no regrets about accepting the position and stated he will meet with the board the following week to determine if he will continue in it.
I can't say I've loved it, Allardyce stated. I'm happy I returned. I did everything in my power to save Leeds, but I can't enjoy anything if I lose.
"We didn't leave a stone unturned, and it's really sad that Leeds is in this position. To the fans, I apologise that I didn't do better and that the players didn't do better."
Shortly after the game, Leeds released a statement in which it also expressed regret to the club's supporters for a "painful" relegation.
"We apologise to our fanbase that the club has not been able to consolidate our status as we had all hoped due to the performances this season," it said.
However, Leeds United is still well-positioned to assemble a group that will contend for promotion from the Championship the following year.
"We are aware that things haven't been up to par and that we need to do better, but rest assured that we have been working hard behind the scenes to prevent a repeat of the past.
Our current attention is on how to return immediately to the Premier League.
Andrea Radrizzani, chairman of Leeds and the club's biggest shareholder, is said to have remained in Italy while the team dropped out of the top division.
