The Anaesthetic Department of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital has received a newly renovated paediatric surgery recovery unit. It is kid-friendly.
A pre-school in Accra, BabyNest Limited, created the "I Care Day" concept as part of their yearly commitment to CSR.
The roughly GH60,000 project also includes bright and insightful paintings of the ward, the provision of shelves and new reception furniture, workstations, a renovated outdoor play area, toys, and a flat-screen television to provide entertainment and relaxation for the young patients while they are recovering.
The project also aims to better the lives of underprivileged kids and instil a spirit of altruism among the school's younger students.
Eben-Kay Hodo, the managing director of BabyNest Limited, stated that the organisation was dedicated to making a substantial contribution to the growth of the communities in which it operated.
According to him, the goal of the initiative was to improve the lives of those less fortunate kids who were currently in that circumstance.
Project
In order to instil in the youngsters the values of generosity and love for their fellow humans, Mr. Hodo said, the initiative was carried out with the help of the students' parents.
"We are aware of the anguish and anxiety some young children experience prior to, during, and following surgery. Thus, this is to provide them with some solace while they receive treatment here and to help them remember and cherish their time there.
The BabyNest Managing Director expressed the desire that the facility would be well-maintained to improve the atmosphere and productivity of the medical staff as well as all other stakeholders that used the facility.
Appreciation
Dr. Audrey Anno, the Clinical Coordinator of the Department of Anaesthesia, who accepted the gifts on behalf of the donor, praised the university for its generosity and said that it would go a long way towards addressing a pressing medical need.
However, Dr. Anno pointed out that the hospital needed supplies like carts, monitors, and incubators for preterm infants and added that its doors were always open to anybody who could help.
