According to Roddy MacGregor, Inverness' performance in the 3-1 Scottish Cup final loss to Celtic can increase their confidence in being promoted the following season.
The Championship team had finished sixth in the league despite defeating Livingston and Kilmarnock of the Premiership with ease on their way to Saturday's Hampden Park showdown.
Kyogo Furuhashi, Liel Abada, and Jota scored goals for Celtic to complete the domestic triple, with Dan MacKay's header for Caley Thistle serving as a consolation.
MacGregor, who replaced Scott Allardice late in the second half, feels that the performance may be seen positively heading into the following campaign.
The 21-year-old midfielder claimed: "In previous rounds, we had defeated Premiership teams. We went toe-to-toe with the best team in the country right now.""We were disappointed obviously; it is never nice to lose in such a big game, but it just goes to show that when we are on our game, we can play with any team," said the team after the game. It's not a pleasant feeling. It's difficult to play against a club like Celtic, but I believe we played okay and restricted their opportunities. We honestly believed we could win the game, which is a sign of a solid locker room. We intend to try again next year.
The winger, who is 22 years old, stated, "The boys should be happy of themselves. We fought back extremely well.Everyone questioned us and predicted that the score would be six or seven to zero, but we proved them wrong and shown that a Championship team that was in the middle of the pack could occasionally compete with Celtic, who ultimately prevailed due to their clinical play.
"If you score a goal, anything can happen in these games," the player said. In games, pressure occurs and opportunities come and go.We seized the opportunity, but Celtic were brutal, and sadly, we never had another.
But we should be happy because getting there was a success.
He replied, "I don't know yet, when asked about his future at Hibs.
