Ghanaian dancehall artiste Livingstone Etse Setekla popularly known in showbiz as Stonebwoy has spilled out some fire alleged to be the truth in a recent interview.
According to the interviewer, "Why does it appear to me that Nigeria is stealing our tender, they’re taking huge lead in this. They are performing at the Grammys, they are doing half time shows, they filling arenas.
Look at Burna Boy, he is everywhere. Why only they because you are a fantastic artiste known globally and have collaborated with some of the best artistes globally but still can’t get to that level or these shows why? What’s the issue"?
In response to the interviewer, Stonebwoy stated, "Thank you very much, but for a moment, let’s mute Nigeria and face Reality. Let’s assume Nigeria is not there. Do you honestly think we are at that level that we can perform at the Grammys or those shows or feel up arenas? Let’s be honest, even if Nigeria was not there, do you think Ghana or CAMEROON are at the level to do these things? Since the era of Fela, Nigerians or Nigerian music hasn’t declined, these people have inclined and have made significant progress.
Can you say same about highlife and Makossa? Makossa is not almost heard today. It is not only one, two, three or four artistes making waves there in Nigeria but more than 20 artistes from there making waves there globally.
Now how many artistes from Ghana or CAMEROON are making these waves? Nigerians have done a lot of good things that we can emulate not trying to get jealous, that’s a way to grow. They have paid their dues. Look at Burna Boy, listen to his Albums and you will understand why he is everywhere. He is hyper good“ He said.
For real Stonebwoy is smart , Now dear Cameroonians and Ghanaians , be honest , which artistes from your country have made that much impact Globally that they can be invited to perform at the Grammys , halftime shows or fill Arenas?
None we guess, the first step to growth is accepting your level and working to change it. You cannot fight for a show that doesn’t belong to you.
