Obrempong Sintim Poku III, the Benkumhene of the Akyem Kotoku Traditional Area, has warned chiefs not to rule over their people but to instead seek their input when making decisions in order to maintain their trust.
In order to speed up the development of their communities, he also pushed them to lead development activities.
The appeal was made at the installation of Prof. Theophilus Adjei-Kumi of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) as the Nkosuohene (Development Chief) of the town by Obrempong Sintim Poku, who is also the Chief of Akyem Manso, close to Oda, in the Eastern Region.
The Department of Construction Technology and Management at KNUST is headed by the 55-year-old new Nkosuohene, Nana Prof. Adjei-Kumi I.
Prof. Joshua Ayarkwah, a former provost of KNUST and current vice chancellor and head of the faculty of arts and building technology department, led a distinguished delegation from KNUST that included over 30 professors and medical professionals to the event, which drew guests from all walks of life.

Obrempong Sintim Poku recommended the new Nkosuohene use his social clout to get investors to build industries in the town so that some of the local youngsters without jobs may be hired.
He urged the locals to maintain a state of peace and harmony in the region and emphasised the need for them to give Nana Adjei-Kumi their utmost support in order for his rule to be successful.
In his inaugural address, Nana Adjei-Kumi assured the audience that he would live up to expectations with their help and collaboration.
He spoke out against fruitless disputes over chieftaincy and territory.
In order to attain the goal, he requested the support of the populace and pledged to work with the traditional leaders to mobilise both people and material resources.
A supporter of the Akyem Manso Development Organisation, whose secretary is Nana Adjei-Kumi, listed a variety of social services the four-year-old organisation has offered to the Manso community. Nana Amoawua Awusi.
The initiatives include providing potable water to Atweaman Senior High School and a portion of the town, installing street lights, and donating necessary supplies.
