Ange Postecoglou, the manager of Celtic, has decided to accept a two-year contract to lead Tottenham.

The 57-year-old informed Celtic's majority shareholder Dermot Desmond on Saturday night of his decision to leave the Glasgow-based team and has since reached an agreement with Spurs on a deal in principle with an extension option.

Postecoglou, the former head coach of Australia, acknowledged on Saturday that his celebrations would shortly be cut short as Celtic defeated Inverness in the Scottish FA Cup final to clinch the domestic treble.

Although neither club has responded, rumours say that once the finer points of the contract have been settled, an announcement will be made.

Since Antonio Conte was fired in March, Tottenham has been looking for a permanent replacement, with Cristian Stellini and subsequently Ryan Mason serving as interim managers.

After Celtic defeated Inverness 3-1 at Hampden on Saturday, Postecoglou was repeatedly asked about his future. He responded, "I anticipate enjoying this moment for the next 24-48 hours, as long as I can, before someone drags me away and takes my attention away from enjoying something that's been hard-earned."In actuality, some of the players in the locker room won't be around the following season. That's just how football is.But until someone grabs me, all I'm going to think about is enjoying it with them and myself.

After moving from Yokohama F Marinos in 2021, he has won five of the six domestic trophies that are available, and this season, he was linked with many Premier League teams.

In addition to helping Celtic resume their winning ways following a disappointing season, Postecoglou won the hearts and minds of the Celtic faithful by introducing an attacking style of play and building relationships with them.

However, it appears like he will leave Glasgow for another rebuilding position when Spurs finally prepare to name Conte's long-term replacement after the Italian's resignation on March 26.

Tuesday is the day Postecoglou is scheduled to leave for a family vacation, so a deal might be completed soon.

For the first time since 2009–10, Tottenham failed to make the cut for European competition the following season.
