The dynamic midfielder has reportedly reached a personal agreement with United, who are now prepared to spend £50 million to wrest him away from West London.

Statistics suggest that the Red Devils may already be near the middle of the park, though.

According to Opta data, Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes, two of Erik ten Hag's most productive offensive midfielders, have considerably surpassed the England international in crucial areas.

Compared to Mount's 0.25 goals per 90 minutes, Fernandes and Eriksen have to scored 0.37 and 0.22 goals per 90 minutes, respectively, just outpacing the performance of the Danish international.

These statistics, however, include the whole Premier League careers of all three players.

And it wouldn't be shocking if Mount's statistics for this season were worse given Chelsea's disastrous season, which saw them finish 12th.

The former Tottenham star, along with the United vice-captain, beats the Chelsea standout in nearly every other category.

Compared to the Chelsea star, Eiksen and Fernandes have 0.99 and 1.12 shots on target, respectively.

With scores of 0.93 and 0.94, the United pair have also made more effective tackles than Mount, who has a score of 0.8.

As Eriksen's and Fernandes' returns of 57.61 and 55.71 overtake Mount's return of 43.82, he is also behind on passes.

In terms of successful passes, the United stars also stand out, with the Dane recording a total of 47.05, the Portuguese star at 43.36, and Mount at 37.28.

The former Derby ace has received 64.72 touches, compared to Eriksen and Fernandes' 78.04 and 75.45.

With 1.71 tackles completed per 90 minutes, Mount only outperforms his likely teammates Eriksen and Fernandes (1.32 and 1.69, respectively).

Mount's contract at Stamford Bridge expires the next year, and negotiations with the Blues to extend it have broken down.

Mason Mount of Chelsea is a player that MANCHESTER UNITED appear committed to acquiring during the summer transfer
window

Erik Ten Hag should give playing time to Academy Youngsters who have been on the bench since the start of the previous season as well as those who have been loaned out to other teams from various levels.
