Ange Postecoglou informed Celtic he wants to manage Tottenham Hotspur after overcoming Inverness Caley Thistle to win the Scottish Cup on Saturday to complete a domestic treble.
The former manager of Australia and Yokohama F. Marinos is almost certain to move to north London, leaving Parkhead with some sizable gaps to fill.
Here, BRIAN MARJORIBANKS of Mail Sport evaluates some of the athletes who will succeed the wildly popular Postecoglou as the Scottish champions.
G. W. POTTER
Age: 48.
ACTIVE POST: NOT ATTACHED.
After his impressive performance at Brighton, Potter was regarded as the best young coach in the Premier League. The former Ostersunds and Swansea City manager was hired by Chelsea last year but was fired after only seven months because his team had only won seven of 22 league games.
Given the chaotic season off the field at Stamford Bridge under the club's new owners, Potter's image shouldn't be damaged by what transpired at Chelsea, Mail Sport's Kris Commons noted on Monday.
Commons advised Celtic to pursue Potter as their new A-list leader and to act with "ambition" and "imagination."
He would be a thrilling addition to Celtic, and he probably would bring a long-term right-hander.
ADAM MOYES
AGE: 60.
WEST HAM IS THE CURRENT POST.
When West Ham plays Fiorentina in Wednesday's Europa Conference League championship game in Prague, the Hammers' manager will lead his team into their first major European final in 47 years.
Former Everton and Manchester United manager Moyes played for Celtic in the early 1980s, and he has previously been linked to take over at the Parkhead club. As West Ham looks to hire a top-tier director of football to manage transfers, there have been rumors that the Scot could quit the London club this summer.
However, when questioned last week about being connected to Celtic, Moyes responded, "I've never even considered it." I'm West Ham's manager, and I'm having a great time so far.
