Arsenal are close to reaching a double deal and Fabrizio Romano has confirmed a late transfer robbery to no avail.
Although the Gunners may have failed to win the Premier League title, it cannot be said that they have made significant strides this season.
Unsatisfied with their win, the Gunners seem determined to redouble their efforts and go further next year.
Indeed, club-record moves for the likes of Moises Caicedo and Declan Rice are always sought after. Elsewhere, Sky Sports has confirmed additions are underway at centre-back and full-back. However, it is equally important to sign new players to retain the ones already available to Mikel Arteta. Finally, two sources have confirmed that William Saliba and Reiss Nelson are expected to extend their stay in north London soon.
Regarding Saliba, PSG have expressed interest and the attraction of joining the biggest team in France is obvious to the French player.
Saliba was arguably Arsenal's best defender this season and their title fell apart when the 22-year-old was absent with a back injury.
But according to Sky Sports News, Arsenal need not fear that Saliba will soon be permanently absent from Arsenal. Saliba's current deal expires in 2024 and according to Sky, negotiations over an extension are "progressing positively".
It is claimed that there is "the will of all parties" to reach an agreement. In other words, the club, the player and his agent all sing from the same hymn.
Euro giants fail with Reiss Nelson hijacking
Elsewhere, Reiss Nelson further confirmed an extension of his stay in north London.
The 23-year-old has seen his season marred by injury, despite contributing an impressive goal every 40 minutes in the league when fit. Nelson's current contract expires this summer and according to the Daily Mail, Aston Villa, Brighton and Fulham have all expressed interest in what would be a shrewd free agent coup.
News from Italy then claimed that Serie A powerhouses AC Milan had made a last-ditch attempt to sign Nelson. Indeed, Gazzetta dello Sport says that contact between Milan and Nelson's camp has been made in the last 72 hours.
However, Sky and Fabrizio Romano quashed those speculations in their latest update.
Sky added that "final details" are being finalized on Nelson's deal at the moment, while Romano tweeted that a deal was "very close". The Mail claim Nelson will sign a four-year contract with a club option for another 12 months. Romano repeated that statement, meaning Nelson will remain under Arsenal's control until 2028.
