Spurs and Ange Postecoglou have agreed to a four-year contract.

As Antonio Conte's permanent replacement as head coach of the north London club, Ange Postecoglou left Celtic for Tottenham.

Here, the PA news agency examines the performance of the most recent managers to switch from the Scottish to the English top flight.

Steven Gerrard

The former Liverpool and England captain took over at Rangers in 2018, coming second to Celtic in each of his first two seasons while also falling short of them in the League Cup final in 2020. However, he finally broke through to win the Premiership in 2020-21 with an undefeated campaign, preventing Celtic from winning their tenth consecutive championship.

He was hired by Aston Villa early in the ensuing season in exchange for what was reportedly a £4 million compensation payout to Rangers, although he was unsuccessful in raising Villa's performance.

After a disappointing start to 2022–23, he was fired, and Unai Emery took over, bringing Villa into the European competition as they finished the season in 14th place. Postecoglou had taken over Celtic and restored their power while in the north of the border.

As Villa's manager, Gerrard has a win percentage of 32.5% with 13 victories in 40 games.

Heckingbottom departed Hibernian in November 2019 and, after being unemployed for much of the season, took a job as the under-23 coach of Sheffield United in July 2020.

After Chris Wilder was fired in March 2021, he was appointed interim manager. However, as the club's relegation was confirmed, he only managed to win three of the club's 11 games.

Slavisa Jokanovic won the permanent position, but he took over six months later after the Serbian was fired and has since guided the Blades back to the top division for the upcoming season, winning 48 of his last 83 games.

After stints at Reading and Liverpool, Rodgers was already well-known in England, but it was at Celtic that he added to his medal tally with back-to-back domestic trebles, adding the League Cup leg of a third before leaving for Leicester in February 2019 and handing the task to Neil Lennon.
