Real Madrid's interest in Kai Havertz has waned as a result of worries over Chelsea's asking price, according to 90min.
The 23-year-old striker is seen by manager Carlo Ancelotti as the type of dynamic attacker who could replace the leaving pair of Eden Hazard and Marco Asensio, and the Spanish team has spoken with Havertz's representatives and made it known that they would be interested in a summer signing.
Chelsea wants to keep Havertz this summer, but 90min understands that if the appropriate price was offered, they would sell since they need to raise cash following a year of massive expenditure that didn't result in Champions League football.
The Blues are thought to be eager to reclaim the more than £70 million they paid for Havertz in 2020, and sources have verified that Real Madrid has withdrawn from negotiations as things stand.
Officials from Real Madrid do not value Havertz equally and are not now willing to pursue a move at that price. Havertz has two years left on his contract.
Even though the talks broke down, Havertz still has a chance to leave Chelsea this summer. Longtime supporters of the German, backed by former Blues manager Thomas Tuchel, regard him as a potential successor to the ailing Thomas Muller.
As they search for a Lionel Messi replacement, Paris Saint-Germain has also been informed of Havertz's prospective availability.
Mauricio Pochettino, the manager of Chelsea, has made it plain that Havertz still has a place in his club, but with Christopher Nkunku expected to arrive this summer and plans to recruit a new center striker, the Argentine is prepared to approve Havertz's exit.
Prior to his decision to join Chelsea in 2020, Real Madrid sought after Havertz, who still has a sizable following at the Santiago Bernabeu. In fact, depending on how their pursuit of Tottenham striker Harry Kane, who has just one year left on his contract and has been named as Karim Benzema's probable successor, turns out, they may go back in for Havertz.
