James Johnson claims that Ange Postecoglou's hiring by Tottenham is a part of "a golden era" for Australian football.
Postecoglou, who left Scottish champions Celtic after two productive years that resulted in a domestic treble, was given a four-year contract by Spurs on Tuesday.
Even though Postecoglou, 57, was not one of the most well-known candidates, according to Football Australia CEO Johnson, Tottenham fans should not be worried about the new Antonio Conte replacement.
Johnson believes that Postecoglou's track record speaks for itself and is confident that, at a period of quick advancement for individuals connected to Australian football, he will flourish in the Premier League.
Right now, Australian football is in its golden age, Johnson told Stats Perform.
"Australian football is extremely proud of Ange. It is a truly extraordinary development."Ange has played Australian football at every level. He participated in the NSL. He has worked as a coach with South Melbourne in the NSL.He has worked as a coach with Melbourne Victory and Brisbane Roar in the A-League. He has served as the head coach of every one of Australia's national teams, including the Socceroos and youth national teams.Ange has achieved success at Celtic, so for him to now secure a position with one of the biggest teams in the world in the largest league in the world is fantastic for him and for Australian football.
Many Australian women's national team members, known as Matildas, are currently playing for some of the top teams in the world, including Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal, Lyon, and Manchester City. "We are seeing people re-enter the Premier League again, like Harry Souttar did at Leicester. Many players are moving from the A-League to Europe, as we can see.Our Socceroos are now coming off their best World Cup performance in team history.
It is a great time for Australian football because we will be hosting the Women's World Cup, the biggest event in women's sports, in just six weeks.
