Ederson, the goalkeeper for Manchester City, won't alter his style of play to take a safer route in the Champions League final.
Due to his skill with the ball in his hands, the Brazil international plays a crucial role when the team plays out from the back, but when the opposition presses hard, that approach can occasionally put the team at more risk.
But even in a one-off game, where a single error may alter the course of an entire season, Ederson has no intention of taking the safe route against Inter Milan on Saturday in Istanbul.
"We must continue to play the same manner we have been. We cannot alter that merely because we are participating in a championship, he remarked.
To play, have the ball at our feet, and make passes, we need the right personality. Making errors is unavoidably a part of being a goalkeeper, defender, or member of any team.
"We all have the capacity to make mistakes, whether they occur in the first or the final game of the season, but we must maintain the same attitude to play."
That mentality includes the capacity to maintain composure under duress and avoid letting setbacks derailed the game plan.
Ederson, who placed sixth in the Premier League Golden Glove race, seven behind Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea's 17 shutouts, believes his experience has equipped him with the skills to handle every situation.
Many teams are attempting to put pressure on us, so you must maintain composure, keep the ball under control, and have the vision to find the proper pass.I can still clearly recall a match versus Tottenham where I dropped a pass that resulted in a goal. You can still pass to me, I told my teammates after the mistake, because mistakes are a necessary part of the process.
"Mistakes teach us a lot, and they help us develop. Mostly, mistakes are how I learn. Making mistakes teaches you much more than doing things correctly or coming out on top.I therefore make it a point to maintain my composure and to help my teammates do the same.
