Hearts will continue to be managed by Steven Naismith, who will now hold the position of technical director.
After taking over as interim manager for the final seven games of the season after Robbie Neilson was fired, Naismith has agreed to a two-year contract with an additional 12-month option.
After securing a spot in the Europa Conference League qualifiers by maintaining the club in fourth place in the tight Premiership, Naismith is unable to manage or coach the team in those contests since he has not earned his Pro-Licence coaching badge.
Thus, Naismith has been granted a new title and Frankie McAvoy has been made head coach. Paul Gallacher and Gordon Forrest both continue in their roles as goalkeeping and first team coaches, respectively.
We are happy to confirm Steven, Frankie, and Gordon as our coaching staff, Hearts chief executive Andrew McKinlay said on the club's website. After a thorough hiring process and considering the many good applications we got, we believe the three are the finest people to guide us into the upcoming season while also sharing our vision for the club's future.Steven is a superb young coach who has a proven track record of developing players and showing a dedication to developing fresh talent.
In February 2022, former Preston manager McAvoy, who had served as Alex Neil's assistant at a number of teams, took over as head of Hearts' junior academy. In 2020, Forrest followed Neilson from Dundee United.
Frankie has extensive knowledge from his time as a coach on both sides of the border and has a proven track record of nurturing potential, according to McKinlay. Of course, Gordon is already well familiar with the club. He is a superb presence on the practice field and a very talented coach.
"We've been really impressed with all three of them," sport director Joe Savage continued. "There's a fantastic dynamic there, and we believe they've earned this opportunity."They want to keep playing in a way that appeals to both the audience and the players. I believe the players' performances spoke for themselves; it was clear they were committed to the goal.
