The Croatia international is on international duty ahead of the Nations League semi-finals
Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic has reacted to speculation linking him with a move to Manchester City.
Manchester City have given the green light to sign the 29-year-old this summer, with future manager Mauricio Pochettino allowing him to leave. Pep Guardiola could lose influential midfielder Ilkay Gundogan this summer with interest from Arsenal, Barcelona, and clubs in Saudi Arabia.
Bayern Munich and former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel are also reportedly interested in Kovacic, who has made 221 appearances for the Blues since joining in 2018. Speaking to Nacional during his international cap, Kovacic said: "I have one more year at Chelsea." This season has been terrible.
"Everything suggests I will change in five good years but anything can happen in football." Right now, my focus is Croatia and the Nations League. "Manchester City is a top team and deserves to be in the Champions League final." That's what I have to say. Summer is still long, we'll see what happens.
Chelsea is phenomenal for me. I love the city and the fans, they love me, I have great memories of Chelsea. We'll see what happens." Chelsea is eyeing Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo after waning interest in Sporting Lisbon star Manuel Ugarte, who has now joined France Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain. PSG hijack Chelsea's deal with Ugarte by paying him more wages than what Chelsea offered and change the midfielder's mind to join them instead.
Mason Mount has agreed terms with Manchester United and N'Golo Kante is close to moving to Saudi pro-league club Al Ittihad as part of a major midfield shake-up under Pochettino. But according to some reports, Chelsea will like to sign at least 3 midfielders before the start of next season if all these three midfielders leave the club. And if that happens, then I don't think Chelsea will excel in the upcoming season will all their midfield yet to know each other.
