According to insiders who spoke to 90min, Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets, who were also teammates at Barcelona, will be joining Luis Suarez at Inter Miami.
Wednesday's announcement by 90min that Lionel Messi would be joining Inter Miami this summer along with his good friend Sergio Busquets was confirmed.
The seasoned Uruguayan player Suarez, who was good friends with Messi at Camp Nou, will now also be joining the Major League Soccer team undergoing a significant makeover, 90min can now disclose.
After his contract at Paris Saint-Germain expired, Messi is moving to the club for free, and Busquets joins for nothing after leaving Barcelona at the conclusion of the 2022–23 European season.
After playing for Nacional in his native Uruguay, Suarez joined Gremio in Brazil last year. Although the 36-year-old has a contract with Gremio through 2024, he has a release clause that he and Miami have invoked, and it will soon be official that he has signed.
For the first time since leaving Camp Nou for Atletico Madrid in 2020, Suarez will rejoin Messi and Busquets' squad when he arrives in south Florida.
The trio worked together for six incredibly fruitful years in Catalonia, and it's thought that Messi helped attract both of his former teammates to the club.

Lionel Messi has acknowledged that he'really wanted' to return to Barcelona from Paris Saint-Germain this summer, but he chose not to become involved in a drama that would have prevented him from making that decision due to the team's persistent financial difficulties.
Messi only ever left Camp Nou in 2021 because he lacked the money to sign the contract he had agreed to.
