A woman died on her birthday after eating poisoned chocolates sent by her ex-boyfriend's jealous lover.
Tragedy struck on what should have been a joyful occasion as a woman lost her life on her birthday after consuming chocolates that were poisoned and sent by the jealous lover of her ex-boyfriend.
Lindaci Viegas Batista de Carvalho, a Brazilian woman who was celebrating her 54th birthday on May 20, had no idea that her special day would also mark the end of her life.
Reports indicate that Lindaci received a mysterious package containing chocolates and flowers from an unidentified sender. Uncertain about the source of the gifts, she decided to reach out to friends and family, including her ex-boyfriend Mário Sérgio Gratital, who claimed responsibility for sending them.
Once she discovered the sender's identity, Lindaci consumed some of the chocolates before heading to the salon to get her hair done. However, shortly after leaving the salon, she collapsed on the sidewalk and began experiencing seizures, catching the attention of bystanders.
Authorities were alerted, and military police quickly arrived at the scene. Lindaci was promptly transported to Rio de Janeiro's Hospital do Andaraí, but tragically, she was pronounced dead.
Following the autopsy, which revealed poisoning as the cause of death, investigators went to Lindaci's home to examine the opened gift box from her birthday. They confirmed that it was the source of the poison.
Fortunately, before her untimely demise, Lindaci had informed her friends and family that her ex-boyfriend, Mário Sérgio Gratital, was the sender of the lethal gift. As a result, he was apprehended as the primary suspect in her murder, unaware of the tragic turn of events. However, further investigation revealed that he had been framed and had no knowledge of the crime.
According to reports, Abilio Gratital, Mário's brother, revealed that Lindaci and his sibling had dated for four years before their relationship ended. Despite the breakup, they remained friends. However, Mário began a new relationship with a woman named Susane Martins da Silva, whom he described as passionate and unstable. Susane discovered texts between Mário and Lindaci, leading to her fury and subsequent contact with Lindaci, including hateful messages and death threats.
It is alleged that Susane, suspecting Lindaci's influence on Mário, sought revenge on her. The Brazilian website reports that Susane managed to locate Lindaci's address and, on her 54th birthday, sent her the poisoned chocolates and flowers, cleverly implicating Mário as the sender.
The unwitting deliveryman, who brought the poisoned gift to Lindaci, was later identified and revealed Susane's son as the person who sent him. Susane's attempt to communicate with the deliveryman to maintain secrecy only led to her own arrest. She now faces charges of qualified homicide.
