Reports have linked the France international with a possible move to Old Trafford this summer. With Erik ten Hag absent for most of 2022-23, Harry Maguire is likely to leave - paving the way for a new defender to take his place.
Disasi is valued at around £35m and has been a rare bright spot - starting all 38 league games - in a disappointing Monaco campaign. Le Rocher is sixth in Ligue 1, meaning they will be absent from Europe next season. French newspaper L'Equipe claim that United are close to agreeing a deal for Disasi although other publications suggest Napoli centre-back Kim Min-jae is the number one target. West Ham United is another Premier League club linked to Disasi, but judging by a previous interview on Champions League football, the Reds have an ace up their sleeve.
The 25-year-old gained international recognition when he was called up to France's World Cup squad as a last-minute substitute, but knows that playing in UEFA's elite league is crucial. to appear regularly on the biggest stage. And with United already qualified for next season's Champions League, Disasi's comments will be music to Erik ten Hag's ears.
Disasi said earlier this year:
“Thanks to Monaco, I was able to join the French national team, so I am very grateful to the club. For the rest, there will be a reflection to be done.
“To be called up, you have to play regularly in Europe and be among the best. Of course we are talking about the Champions League. I want to taste it, and I want to give myself the means to be there.
The signing of another centre-back will give Erik ten Hag plenty of room to defend next season. Victor Lindelof, Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez and Maguire are already on United's list, with the latter tipped to join Aston Villa. Varane's injury problems could prompt Ten Hag to prioritize other options ahead of the summer transfer window. Securing a place in the top four has boosted United's appeal as Disasi, a potential long-term signing at the age of 25, can fulfill his Champions League dream at Old Trafford.
