Ross County defender Jack Baldwin acknowledges that after the Staggies' incredible escape and in light of their sacrifices for his career, he experienced an emotional moment with his family.
The Essex native, who joined County from Bristol Rovers two years ago, relocated his family to the Highlands because he did not want to dwell too much on the consequences of County losing their top-flight status.
After falling behind Partick Thistle 3-1 on aggregate in the first half of the decisive second leg of the Premiership play-off final on Sunday, his squad was faced with that possibility.
In the final 20 minutes, County rallied and took the lead in the penalty shootout, but Baldwin's penalty kick was saved.
However, they eventually won in sudden death, which caused the Dingwall supporters to invade the pitch.
"The overriding emotion was relief, obviously with the way it ended and personally missing the penalty," the 29-year-old said to the PA news agency.
"Conceding the goal was a bit of a kick early on," the players said, "but we had scored five goals in the previous two home games so we knew if we could score we would give ourselves a chance." The players really enjoy playing here.Simply put, I'm happy for everyone associated with the club. Everyone at the club works extremely hard, from the players to the coaching staff and backstage staff. Everyone who is not on the field often works three jobs.
We have traveled far from home, the center back from Salford, Hartlepool, Peterborough, Sunderland, and added. I believe you should become fully involved in the group you play for and the club you represent. At the conclusion of the game, my family joined me on the field, and I started crying and feeling emotional since they had given up a lot for me to come up and play football here. Children starting new schools, a wife leaving the house and moving far away to make new acquaintances. It certainly means a lot.My two children are six and nine years old. Due to our many moves, my nine-year-old girl is currently enrolled in her fifth or sixth different school.
