Charlie Reilly has been signed by Dundee for a two-year deal from Albion Rovers.

The 21-year-old was nominated for the players' and Scottish Football Writers' young player awards and recently named PFA Scotland League 2 Player of the Year.

Reilly scored 24 goals and contributed 19 assists in 43 games last year, despite Rovers finishing last and dropping out of the league.

Last season, while playing for Rovers, the ex-Hamilton and Partick Thistle player trained with Dundee.

"I am delighted to get it over the line, it's been a long time coming and I can't wait to get started," he said on the club website.

Since I've been training for a while and the boys were friendly to me, the club felt perfect for me.Being present for training at the club last season was extremely beneficial to me while I was at Albion. It greatly aided me both physically and in many other ways.

I've had nice chats with the gaffer, and he has demonstrated that he believes in me and is aware of my abilities. I can't wait to get started and work with him."

Tony Docherty, Charlie's manager, continued, "I have worked with Charlie before and have seen him in action. He made an impression on me with his talent and athleticism. His season's numbers and nominations speak eloquently about him.

However, I also know that I'm getting a guy with the correct mindset in addition to talent and a good eye for goal. He has committed to the club and is relocating, which is significant to me.

"I believe he is a player, and the Dundee supporters will really love watching him when he is performing well. The fact that he decided to sign for us makes me very happy.Former Rangers striker Mark Hateley thinks his old team has to add two scorers to James Tavernier or else they won't be able to stop Celtic from controlling Scottish football.

Tavernier, a right-back, led the team in league scoring last season with 16 goals and 18 overall.
