According to a new report from Spain, Manchester United have shown an interest in signing Real Madrid star Federico Valverde this summer.
The Red Devils believe they can close any potential deal in the same way as Casemiro moved from Los Blancos to Old Trafford in August.
Although the Brazilian's departure from Madrid last year seemed far-fetched at times, United could still arrange a transfer and a fee of 60m.
According to Spanish outlet Todofichajes, Erik ten Hag insists United should be the first to bid for the Uruguayan this transfer window.
Several departures are expected at Real Madrid before the start of next season. Many 'attack-minded' players are currently linked with a move to the Bernabeu, including Kai Havertz, Victor Osimhen and Harry Kane, meaning departures are still needed to balance the books.
Valverde previously said his family was settling down in the Spanish capital and had no intention of leaving.
However, he is said to be in doubt about his future in La Liga, with rumors circulating that he may not feature regularly in Ancelotti's starting line-up next campaign.
Real Madrid currently value their player at 100 million and will likely consider such an offer if made in the next few weeks.
United made a move for Valverde most recently last summer after offering 80 million euros. Spanish newspaper El Nacional reported that the Red Devils will once again recruit the Uruguayan player in this transfer window.
This season, however, Valverde's stock has risen dramatically. The midfielder is enjoying his best season ever, with seven assists and 12 goals in all competitions.
"So they had almost 80 million euros available." El Nacional's Dani Serrano explains. One number is considered insufficient.
United are still battling to secure the 24-year-old's signature, with the Spaniard seeing him as 'one of the mainstays of Real Madrid's present and future'.
