Lautaro Martinez of Inter Milan is focused on making the most of the opportunity as he seeks to build on his World Cup victory with Champions League glory.
On Saturday in Istanbul, the Italian team will compete for Europe's biggest trophy against the odds-on favorites, Manchester City. Martinez hopes to cap off a great season in which he also assisted Argentina in winning an international match in December.
The Ataturk Olympic Stadium hosted a press conference where Martinez stated, "These are the two major finals a footballer can play.
"This season has undoubtedly been incredibly rewarding for me. I'm happy with how things turned out and how I performed. Now, we want to wrap things up as effectively as we can.
"This is the very last step to do if you want to accomplish your goal, and we must be prepared to do so. The game will be crucial for everyone at Inter and the team.
Martinez will face Julian Alvarez, a teammate from Argentina with whom he won a trophy in Qatar, in the game on Saturday.
Martinez stated, "I haven't spoken to Julian. He was invited to my recent wedding but was unable to make it.
In comparison to a City team aiming to clinch a treble, Inter, who placed third in Serie A, are considered the underdogs.
We didn't have time to reflect after making the final because we still had games to play, according to coach Simeone Inzaghi.
"We have only recently realized our accomplishments, but we are not at ease. We are focusing intensely and will battle for every square inch of the field against a top-notch team.
"We must maintain complete concentration and avoid errors."
