After his contract at Manchester United was terminated due to a bombshell interview, the 38-year-old joined Saudi Arabia's Al-Nassr in January. However, a challenging adjustment period caused Ronaldo to struggle with his form almost away.
Al-Nassr came in second place in the Pro League standings, five points behind eventual champions Al-Ittihad, who on Thursday introduced Karim Benzema, a former teammate of Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid, as their newest signing.
Ronaldo failed to score in his new club's maiden game before going on to score five goals in his following two appearances as he grew accustomed to his strange and new surroundings.
As the second part of the Saudi season developed, the Portuguese superstar experienced highs and lows, scoring a hat-trick in his sixth appearance before suffering a two-game losing streak.
His 14 goals in 16 appearances for the season were his lowest total since his second season at Manchester United in 2006. He finished the season with six more goals in nine games.
Ronaldo had the opportunity to be included in either the striker's role or on one of the wings for the statistics team of the season, but he was completely left out.
Odion Ighalo, a former center forward for Watford and Manchester United, took over as the attack's star, flanked by Feras Albrikan and Mourad Batna.
Ighalo fared better than the five-time winner of the Ballon d'Or, hitting 19 goals in 27 games to take the top scoring spot in the Saudi Pro League for the current season.
Despite rumors suggesting he might be moving back to Europe, Ronaldo has subsequently said he will remain in the country for another campaign.
He declared, "I am happy here, I want to continue here, and I will continue here."
And in my opinion, the Saudi league can rank among the top five leagues in the world if they keep up the job they intend to do here for the next five years.
