The sporting director of Borussia Monchengladbach, Roland Virkus, has made it clear that the team is willing to sell midfielder Manu Kone to Liverpool for the correct sum of money.

After securing the cheap acquisition of Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton, Liverpool is currently actively seeking out a second new midfielder. Although there has been significant interest in Kone from around Europe, the Reds have intensified their pursuit of the 22-year-old in recent weeks by starting negotiations with his agents.

Gladbach is believed to want to keep Kone, although director Virkus has acknowledged that the team will sell any player if their asking prices are fulfilled.

"Our attitude is well-known," Virkus said to kicker. "We will do it if there are financial considerations that a club like Borussia has to make."

Liverpool has spoken with the agents of fellow Frenchman Khephren Thuram, who recently discussed his future and claimed he was not in a haste to leave Nice, and who Liverpool is also considering as a potential replacement for Kone.

Mason Mount of Chelsea, Ryan Gravenberch of Bayern Munich, Ruben Neves of Wolves, and Youri Tielemans of old Leicester are all on Liverpool's extensive wishlist as the Reds want to continue their midfield makeover.

This summer, the team lost Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner, and Naby Keita, with the latter signing a contract with Werder Bremen to play in the Bundesliga once more. After his loan period was up, Arthur also went back to Juventus.

Fabio Carvalho, a 20-year-old midfielder, will also be permitted to move on loan this summer due to his insufficient playing time in the previous year.

Following Liverpool's early acquisition of World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton & Albion, the summer transfer market has officially begun.

The 24-year-old's hiring is widely considered as a brilliant move, with Mac Allister playing a crucial role in Brighton's unexpected top-six Premier League result that guaranteed them a spot in the Europa League for the upcoming season.
