According to 90min, William Saliba and Arsenal have reached an agreement on the parameters of a new four-year contract.
The center-back's current contract is slated to expire at the conclusion of the upcoming campaign, and a number of top teams in Europe have already expressed interest in the 22-year-old, whose negotiations for a new contract with Arsenal began back in September.
Saliba turned down a few offers from Arsenal, but it was never believed that he was actively seeking a transfer away from the club. Instead, it was thought that he was searching for a contract that more accurately reflected his standing as one of the best young defenders in the league.
A deal has finally been made to extend Saliba's contract until 2027, sources have confirmed to 90min after the Frenchman's representatives recently pressed for a higher offer.
Despite attention from across the Premier League and in his native France, Saliba has always been eager to stay at Arsenal and is now planning to extend his time at the Emirates.
Saliba finished the 2022–23 season with 33 appearances across all leagues, the last of which came in March when a troubling back issue ended his season early.
Saliba's importance to the club was demonstrated by Mikel Arteta's team's struggles without him, winning only five of their 11 Premier League games without him and ultimately falling behind Manchester City in the title chase.
Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, and Aaron Ramsdale's futures have already been settled by Arsenal, and Saliba's signing of a new contract will be a huge assist to Arteta's efforts to keep his young core together.
Lean Reiss Prior to the expiration of his current contract this summer, Nelson is also believed to have reached an agreement on a personal extension.
