Fans believe that Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola appears to have targeted Manchester United pairing David de Gea and Marcus Rashford ahead of the Champions League final.

City take on Inter Milan at Istanbul's Ataturk Olympic Stadium this evening in a bid to win the Champions League for the first time in their history.

For Guardiola, tonight's success will see him lift his third Champions League crown, and the first since winning the final against Barcelona in 2011.

It would also secure the traditional treble for City - Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League - a feat United first achieved in 1999.

It was United that Guardiola's men had to beat in the FA Cup final earlier this month to claim the double. They won 2-1 at Wembley thanks to a brace from Ilkay Gundogan.

Fans react to Guardiola's Man Utd comments

Speaking to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry in an interview for CBS Sports, Guardiola discussed Inter and United's different styles ahead of the final.

He focused on the play of Inter goalkeeper Andre Onana, before comparing the Inter strikers' save play to that of Rashford.

I said:

“It's difficult when you have this goalkeeper [like Onana] to press precisely, because you can't get close to the goalkeeper.

"The bond with Lautaro [Martinez], [Romelu] Lukaku, Edin Dzeko, they are masters at keeping the ball. "For example with United, the ball is long with Rashford and the others, they don't keep it. These guys [Inter], they keep it, and after tying it up, they run."

Guardiola's comments drew a lot of reactions from United fans and other clubs, with some believing his analysis of Onana was a direct comparison to De Gea's.

One said, accompanied by a smiling emoji:

"He pretty much says that Rashford can't hold the ball."

Another agreed with Guardiola's comments, saying:

"It's a fair assessment."

The third person wrote:

"Pep thinks Inter is better than Man Utd and I don't blame him."

A fourth fan added:

"There's no way Erik ten Hag would look at this and think we're all fine."

And a fifth fan said:

"Rashford and De Gea caught stray dogs."

Meanwhile, another fan defended Rashford:

"He's a winger. He's more of a winger. It's been known since his first season that he doesn't like to play with his back to goal. His playstyle is very, very different from that of Dzeko."
