Florentino Perez is said to have risked angering Paris Saint-Germain by announcing that he would sign Kylian Mbappe for Real Madrid, but not yet.

Nearly two years ago, Real took a big step forward for Mbappe when he had only one year left on his contract at PSG at that time.

The French side are so keen to keep him that they have refused to decide in both transfer windows and hope to sign him a new contract.

That didn't seem to have happened for most of last season, but just before Los Blancos reached the Champions League final in Paris, the player from the French capital confirmed he would stay there for three years, before the discontent of Real fans.

Despite the fact that he is still only 26 years old at the end of his three-year contract, there are rumors that the Spanish giants will never return to the striker again. Club president Perez did not exactly praise the World Cup winner's decision to stay at Parc des Princes but offered at least some words of encouragement for the future.

In the end, it turned out that Mbappe had only signed a contract for two more years, meaning a transfer could be made this summer, otherwise he would be out of business for the next year.

With Real in need of a new striker following the departure of Karim Benzema, can they sign the former Monaco man this summer?

When asked if he intends to sign Mbappe, Perez replied cheekily:

"Yes, but not this year."

Florentino Pérez on the fichar at Mbappé:

The French star will be offered a free transfer for a year and could even sign a six-month pre-contract agreement.

Real would certainly be favorites to sign him in the future, although there has been interest from Liverpool and Manchester United in the past. Benzema's move to Saudi Arabia has left Carlo Ancelotti's side in need of a striker in the meantime and they have also been linked with Harry Kane.

The Spanish side spent a lot of money securing Jude Bellingham to sign for Borussia Dortmund this summer, once again beating interest from England.

Roberto Firmino has been suggested as a cheaper option to move to the Bernabeu this year, after leaving Liverpool at the end of their campaign.
