Arsenal has reach a full agreement with William Saliba on a new long-term contract extension

The centre-back's previous contract expired next summer and he is now expected to extend it in the next two to three weeks.

Arsenal will be interested in tying Saliba to a new contract as the Frenchman has just completed a brilliant season for the Gunners. The 21-year-old shone in his debut season in English football and Arsenal's title claim dwindled when he suffered a back injury in the Europa League in March, which ruled him out for the rest of the season. Lilina is still out but working hard to get back into pre-season form.

Last year Arsenal made keeping key players in their squad a priority and they have achieved that goal: Aaron Ramsdale, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel, and Gabriel Martinelli have all signed new contracts. Saliba is the latest signing.

Arsenal and Saliba will have agreed on a new long-term contract which will see the player spending the next four years in north London if nothing happens. Saliba was the star of the Gunners' defense this season until his unfortunate injury which saw the Gunners decline in form and lose some unnecessary games which avoids them from winning the Premier League trophy this season.

The Gunners are also expected to begin contract negotiations with their captain Martin Odegaard.

The Norwegian has two years left on his current contract, with an option for another 12 months, but Arsenal wants to keep him and reward him for his good performances. Arsenal will go head-head with the camp of their captain to make sure they completed his contract extension before the pre-season.

Odegaard has been linked with a move to French giants Paris Saint-Germain this summer, but Arsenal have no plans to consider an offer.

The midfielder himself is very much at home in north London and also enjoys an excellent relationship with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.
