In males, the gamete is called a sperm, which is produced in the testes and travels through the vas deferens and urethra during ejaculation. In females, the gamete is called an egg, which is produced in the ovaries and travels through the fallopian tubes into the uterus.


Fertilization occurs when a sperm penetrates an egg, creating a zygote. The zygote contains the genetic material from both parents and begins to divide and develop into an embryo.


The process of reproduction is essential for the survival of all species on Earth. Without reproduction, species would eventually become extinct. Humans, like all other animals, reproduce for the continuation of the species and the passing on of genetic information to future generations.
