Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has expressed his relief at his team's eventual victory in the UEFA Champions League.
Rodri's goal in the second half was sufficient to defeat the Nerazzurri as the Citizens defeated Inter in the championship match on Saturday at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Turkey.
Man City has routinely underperformed in Europe despite having great squads and the financial means to spend a lot on acquisitions. Guardiola is frequently criticized for "overthinking" his tactical choices in pivotal matches.
In 2021, they made it to their first Champions League final, but Chelsea defeated them. Two years later, Man City had successfully avenged that shocking loss by winning the treble.
After the game, Guardiola was asked by BT Sport how it felt to win the Champions League for the first time in 12 years.
"Of course, I'm tired, at peace, and content. This trophy is f***ing impossible to win! It's impossible," exclaimed Guardiola.
"We were aware that things might be different. First off, because Inter is really, really fantastic. They do something very similar to what Antonio Conte does in that they bring you up, locate strikers, link up well, can hold it, and then sprint to the other side.
"The first time, we were so nervous that John Stones was set free. We failed to locate him. But the key is to exercise patience. When we played Chelsea in Porto in 2021, we were trailing 1-0 at the time. Now, the score is 0-0, which is something.
"And we need good fortune. They did it the same way at the end of the tournament, either Ederson makes a save or they miss the shot and draw. Phil [Foden] might have added another goal. A coin was [flipped]. However, we were there, and I believe it was preordained by the stars. It is our property, and we did it.
