Prior to Ilkay Gundogan and Rodri's heroics in the championship, Erling Haaland's goals had set the tone.
In addition to winning the Premier League and the FA Cup, Manchester City also won the Champions League.
The PA news agency examines the crucial figures in their remarkable treble here.
Erling Haaland
The Norwegian has been a complete phenomenon, tallying a Premier League record 36 goals for City and 52 across all competitions. After moving to the Premier League for £51 million from Borussia Dortmund, some questioned whether he would be able to keep up the incredible scoring pace of his early career, but he immediately allayed their concerns. Together, he and Kevin De Bruyne were a lethal duo who scored six hat-tricks across all competitions, including an incredible five-goal Champions League haul against RB Leipzig. He required a change in City's playing style, but by the end, when they had tamed Arsenal and tasted victory on three fronts, everything had really come together.
Kevin De Bruyne
De Bruyne may not have had his best season, and some of Guardiola's remarks about him occasionally gave the impression that the manager was not fully happy with the Belgian, but he still had another outstanding year. As City entered the run-in, he really got going and delivered, and his numbers were once more remarkable. The fact that he led the Premier League in assists—16—is a credit to Haaland's brilliant finishing, but it also means that he had four more than any other player in the league. He contributed with seven goals, two more goals, and seven assists in Europe, but his final was cut short before halftime for the second time in three years due to injury.
Jack Grealish
Although Grealish has taken some time to live up to his £100 million price tag, his second season at the club has been noticeably better than his first. Early in the season, there were some noteworthy performances, and ever since the World Cup, he has consistently performed at that level. He is more difficult for opponents to knock off the ball now that he appears more assured on it, and he is also exhibiting improved teammate identification skills. He has made good progress, and City is hopeful that he will continue to do so.
