The winners of the FA Cup and Champions League finals, respectively, were Ilkay Gundogan and Rodri.

After defeating Inter Milan in the Champions League final, Manchester City is enjoying a trophy treble.

The PA news agency examines some of the crucial contests in their successful campaign here.

October 2, Man City 6 Man Utd 3

City did not really achieve consistency until the spring, but in the early going, there were some incredible displays of their firepower, particularly that of Erling Haaland. Their humiliation of longtime rivals United was especially satisfying. Haaland assisted on his own hat-trick, which was his third in as many home games and one of six in a season-high six, while Phil Foden also scored three.

January 19, Man City 4 Tottenham 2

After his team came back from being down 2-0 at the half thanks to goals from Riyad Mahrez (two), Julian Alvarez, and Haaland, Pep Guardiola expressed his rage at his team. The City manager thought the first half was another sign that his team, which he called "happy flowers," was not totally focused after losses in the previous two games. A few weeks later, City lost to Spurs, but perhaps that defeat represented a change in attitude.

February 15, Arsenal 1 Man City 3

The two top title contenders were held apart due to conflicting fall schedules until February, when City struck first. Bukayo Saka's penalty negated Kevin De Bruyne's goal, but City picked up the pace in the second half with goals from Jack Grealish and Haaland. The victory was crucial psychologically since it propelled City to the top, although by a narrow margin and despite having played a game more.

April 1, Man City 4 Liverpool 1

City started to show they really meant business when they put Liverpool, their chief title rivals in recent years, to the sword. Mohamed Salah put the Reds ahead but City’s response, without injured top scorer Haaland, was impressive as Alvarez, De Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan and Grealish scored in a convincing win.
