Three British tourists are reported missing following a fire outbreak on a boat in the red sea. Local authorities say twelve other British tourists have been rescued following the incident at the Egyptian resort of Marsa Alam.

The boat was on a sea cruise and initial reports suggested that the fire resulted from an electrical fault.

According to Sally Nabil, the Cairo correspondent of the BBC, “So far the information available are pretty sketchy. But one thing we know is that, all the British Tourists rescued are in good condition. Efforts are underway to search for the three passengers who are still missing.”

She said, “There were fifteen British passengers on board the boat that caught fire from an electric fault, according to initial reports we got from local sources there at sea.”

She narrated that, “All in all, there were around thirty people on board this boat, including some Egyptian crew. However, the British Embassy here, in Egypt, is aware of the incident and they are working to guarantee the safety of all the British nationals involved.”

Moreover, “Prosecutors have already started an investigation to try and find out what exactly caused this fire. The footage we are seeing on social media show that the fire was really huge.”

Questions being asked are, “Is it just an electric fault? Or is there some sort of negligence or poor maintenance on board this boat? We still don’t know yet.”

In her own words again, Sally Nabil mentioned that, “The red sea resort is a very famous destination for a lot of famous people as well as British tourists… And, Marsa Alam is one of the British tourists’ favorite sites in Egypt for cruising and diving. So this incident is a really bad news.”

“The tourism industry in Egypt depends on British tourists largely. We will wait and see what the local authorities will do about this.”

Are there any more people missing?

“Everybody has been rescued, including the Egyptian crew who were also onboard the boat. Every one of them is in good condition. However, a search operation is still underway to find the three missing British tourists,” Sally emphasized.
