According to club legend Ledley King, Ange Postecoglou possesses an offensive style of play that will work best for Tottenham.
Postecoglou will depart Celtic to become the manager of Tottenham on a four-year deal, it was announced this week.
After two years with the Scottish champions and a domestic triple in 2022–2023, the 57-year-old leaves.
An underachieving Spurs squad that finished eighth in the Premier League and won't compete in Europe next season will be led by Australian Postecoglou.
King, however, has a positive outlook on what the new Spurs manager can do.
At an exclusive kit launch event for Club and Nike Members hosted at Alexandra Palace, King told Stats Perform, "He is a very excellent manager and he had a terrific experience at Celtic.
"I think he is someone that complements our approach. He is a front-foot manager who loves to play offensive football and score lots of goals. The development of young players is also crucial.I'm excited for him to begin his reign, and I believe it's critical that we resolve this issue quickly. He recently ended Celtic's [Scottish Cup] championship game, and thanks to our ability to complete the transaction, the trade is now final. We are finally headed in the right path.
When I go back over our history, I see players that have always wanted to be aggressive, express themselves, and score goals — it's just in the DNA of the football team.naturally, to develop young players. We must always see players given a chance. For these reasons, I believe it would be very popular with the crowd. "If you're an offensive player, the idea of that is amazing. Players like to play, and they particularly want to play with the ball. Players seek to dictate the rules of the games they play. They want to be a part of a squad that plays good, stylish football and is fun to be a part of.
