Newcastle want loan deal for Man Utd defender , but the Red Devils want permanent move

Newcastle United is reportedly interested in a loan deal for Manchester United defender Harry Maguire. However, the Magpies are only interested in a permanent deal, which has created a disagreement between the two clubs. Manchester United is not willing to loan Maguire to a top-four rival without receiving anything in return, according to The Sun.

If Newcastle were to make a cash offer for the 30-year-old center-back, Manchester United would be open to negotiations. Tottenham Hotspur has also been linked with an interest in Maguire as they hope to persuade Harry Kane to stay at the club, but they have yet to make a concrete bid. Aston Villa is monitoring the situation as well, looking for defensive backup for their upcoming European Conference League campaign. It is more likely that a loan deal would be accepted by Manchester United if Aston Villa were to make an offer.

Leicester City, Maguire's former club, was also keen on reacquiring the defender, but their relegation has put an end to any potential signing. Maguire struggled to secure a place in Erik ten Hag's first team at Manchester United last season, making only 16 appearances in the Premier League. Despite his limited playing time, Maguire is reportedly keen on staying at Old Trafford, and his high wages of Ł200,000 per week could pose a challenge for any potential move away from the club.

However, Manchester United is actively looking to offload Maguire as they aim to use the funds in their pursuit of Napoli center-back Kim Min-Jae. The South Korean, who is also on Newcastle's radar, has a release clause of Ł42 million that will come into effect on July 1. Manchester United is considering a swoop for the Serie A title winner.

There have also been talks of a potential swap deal involving Maguire and Chelsea's Mason Mount as Manchester United tries to secure the transfer of the talented midfielder. Maguire became the world's most expensive defender when he joined Manchester United from Leicester for Ł80 million in 2020. He was subsequently made captain of the club by then-manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. However, a series of disappointing performances and the arrival of Lisandro Martinez have seen Maguire slip down the pecking order, leading to expectations that he will be offloaded by Manchester United this summer.
