Liverpool could surprise Arsenal again this summer in the race to sign Declan Rice, the Gunners have warned.
Rudy Galetti has hinted that the race remains technically open, although Mikel Arteta's men are leading the race for the West Ham award star (whom Jurgen Klopp has hailed 'great development' before. there, as Football.London reports) before the summer transfer window opens within two days.
"A small revolution is expected in Liverpool's midfield following the arrival of [Alexis] Mac Allister from Brighton," the transfer reporter told GiveMeSport.
"There will be other signings for sure, Declan Rice is definitely Klopp's forbidden dream.
“The West Ham player will not renew his contract which expires in June 2024 and he is ready to leave this summer after winning the Conference League. Arsenal are leading the race for him and he is their priority target, but anything can happen.
The Merseysiders are said to be particularly fond of Khephren Thuram and Manu Kone, although perhaps they could be persuaded to deviate.
Can Liverpool become big for Declan Rice?
Our view here at Empire of the Kop is that Jorg Schmadkte and Co. very unlikely to sue Rice because of the hefty price tag attached.
Given that the same reasons have led us to reassess our interest in Borussia Dortmund star midfielder Jude Bellingham, we simply cannot see the team re-evaluating their options. - discount Alexis Mac Allister or not.
With the numbers quoted for Thuram and Kone also well below the £100m mark, it makes much more sense at this stage to fully bolster the midfield and reserve for the future. Rice would certainly be a great signing for anyone who can afford his services, although we are also delighted that Jurgen Klopp and his coaching staff can shape some of the goals on our list.
