Chelsea midfielder Cesare Casadei hopes his performances at the U20 World Cup will see him audition for Mauricio Pochettino.
The 19-year-old took part in the tournament in Argentina and captained Italy to the final, which they lost 1-0 to Uruguay on Sunday night. Cassaday, who joined Chelsea from Inter Milan for Ł16m last summer, finished the tournament as the top scorer in midfield with seven goals and produced some excellent performances. He followed in the footsteps of Lionel Messi, Erling Haaland, and Sergio Aguero to win the Golden Boot of the tournament.
The teenager's achievements have not gone unnoticed at Chelsea and Pochettino will decide whether to include Casadei in his first-team squad for pre-season, with the new manager dividing his squad into two groups.
Casadei, who spent the second half of the season on loan at Reading in the Championship, is now likely to return on loan but will hope to make an impression on his return to his hometown club.
Although there will be a lot of changes in the squad before the start of next season Pochettino will always have a tough decision to make on which player he selects for the pre-season and the one he should let him leave on loan or on a permanent deal.
Pochettino will have to make some tough decisions over who to take on his pre-season tour of America as Chelsea ended the season with over 30 players in their first team and 21 others on loan. Now that Ngolo Kante has paved his way away from the club,, and Kovaci is also ready to make a move to Manchester City, which means Chelsea will have to re-0organize a new midfield for the start of next season and I'm thinking about how they will cope with each other to expel in the Premier League.
Mauricio Pochettino and his Chelsea team really need the pre-season baldly after all that happens to the club which makes them underperformed in the League this season.
