According to rumors in Spain, Liverpool have made contact with Real Madrid about an ambitious move for Federico Valverde, to which president Florentino Perez has already answered.
Valverde, who scored 12 goals in 56 appearances for Los Blancos last season, will compete for first-team minutes in the coming months as Jude Bellingham appears to be on his way from Borussia Dortmund.
Toni Kroos and Luka Modric, both 33, are nearing the twilight of their careers, but Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga, and a resurgent Dani Ceballos will give considerable competition in midfield.
Valverde might be part of a Madrid club that dominates Europe for years to come, albeit Liverpool of the Premier League is rumored to be interested in his services, according to Spanish media.

According to Spanish newspaper El Nacional, Jurgen Klopp's team has already made a €60 million [£51.5 million] bid for the Uruguay international.
Negotiations for less than €100 million fixed would not be considered, according to Perez, and conversations about a sale will not advance if the offer does not exceed that amount.

According to El Nacional, Klopp has been following Valverde for some time and believes they need a "shake up and a leap in quality" after a disappointing season in all competitions last season.Valverde recently commented about his future after watching River Plate play Fluminense in the Copa Libertadores.
"I'm a River fan, but I'm a Penarol fan," he said to ESPN. "In Uruguay, it's my club. Penarol comes first, followed by River. It will always be my first option, however I'm loving my time in Madrid right now, so we'll see."
