The 50-year-old has just spoken with the Scottish Premiership champions, and more discussions are anticipated this week.

Last Monday, Sky Sports News announced that he would be interviewed for the position of Ange Postecoglou's replacement, albeit Celtic had also been considering other possibilities.

Rodgers, who departed Celtic in 2019, has also been linked to the open position at Leeds United, despite having planned to take a significant hiatus from coaching after leaving Leicester City in April.

Like any open managerial position, the top position at Celtic Park has been linked to a number of different candidates.

Jesse Marsch, the former manager of Leeds, is also a candidate and appears to be a good fit given that he practices a similar style of play to Postecoglou.

Prior to moving to Elland Road, he was appointed manager of RB Leipzig, where he handled the Bundesliga team's renowned pressing and hard running while working under former Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick.

Marsch was first introduced to the style when playing for the New York Red Bulls from 2015 to 2018, and then again while playing for Red Bull Salzburg from 2019 to 2021.

Marsch's Leeds led the Premier League in distance even this season until he was fired due to persistent drops in performance.

Although Rodgers is the favorite candidate, Celtic officials are said to be investigating other candidates as well, including Enzo Maresca, Pep Guardiola's assistant at Manchester City who has also been linked to Leicester.

Since Celtic would be guaranteed a spot in the Champions League group stage if they repeat as league champions and their title defense doesn't begin until August, it's believed they won't make a choice on Postecoglou's replacement right away.

Here, we examine a few of those connected to the profession in greater detail.

Robert Rodgers

Since he guided the Hoops to back-to-back trebles before his bitter departure for Leicester in February 2019, he is available, coveted by the Celtic board, and needs no introduction to the Hoops supporters.

Although his mid-season departure from Glasgow was not well received by the fans, it seems that time does actually work as a cure because many were receptive to the thought of the Northern Irishman coming back.

Despite having long-term vacation plans, the 50-year-old has already stated that he would not hesitate to play for Celtic again.

"That challenge may come in the future, and I would have absolutely no hesitation in going back," Rodgers remarked after leaving Parkhead. A fantastic club. Just with everything else in life, time is crucial. Whether
