Thomas Zetzmann, a member of the German's medical staff during his seven-year tenure at Dortmund, claims that Klopp had a brutal and direct demeanor on the practice field.
Zetzmann, who spent 16 years working for the Bundesliga powerhouse Dortmund before to Klopp's appointment, saw a heated argument break out between Klopp and his backup goalkeeper Zlatan Alomerovic.
Angry by his team's performance during a training camp in Marbella, Klopp threatened to bench the goalkeeper when he fell to the ground with a bloody nose.
Zetzmann shared the following story about Klopp with GOAL when asked to give his most memorable tale about the coach: "Once in training camp in Marbella, everyone was not really awake yet and the training match was taking place.
Zlatan Alomerovic, the third goalkeeper, ran into a player. Even though I had the ice box in my hands, I could already see blood dripping from his nose from where I was standing.
"You must understand that with Jurgen, you should only enter the field when it is absolutely necessary." He didn't want to unduly interfere with the game. He always wanted a healthy level of toughness from the athletes; it was almost like an educational test.
As a physio, you could occasionally expect a good run-in if you stepped on something he considered superfluous. Zlatan was heavily bleeding. However, Jurgen became enraged by the interruption and just said, "Get up!" And in response, Zlatan yelled: "What do you mean, get up? Do you not see?
'Never has anyone ventured to accomplish
Despite my best efforts to soothe him, Jurgen eventually turned on me as well. This was presumably because of the careless play.
As he frequently did following the incident, he expressed regret and admitted that he had exaggerated and that he might have handled the circumstance more differently.
Dortmund won back-to-back Bundesliga titles under Klopp's leadership in 2011 and 2012.
Since then, Liverpool has won the Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup under his ruthless leadership.
