Chelsea scouting reports: Although a move for Kylian Mbappe may appear unlikely, if Todd Boehly is successful, he might close one of the best transactions of the summer transfer season.

Kylian Mbappe, the star forward for Paris Saint-Germain, decided not to extend his contract past 2024, thus this summer will be dominated by news about his future.

Mbappe's immediate future is now in doubt as it has been claimed that he has informed the club of his choice to forego that option. There have been numerous rumors linking him to a departure this summer since PSG won't want to see their top player leave on a free transfer next summer.

The Times reports that Chelsea is anticipated to express interest in the France striker, with a potential transfer realizing Todd Boehly's aim of bringing a world-renowned athlete to Stamford Bridge. Since the American completed his ownership of the club in May of last year, moves for Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, and Lionel Messi have all been discussed; but, hiring Mbappe's talents could make sense for a variety of reasons.

He is a professional goal scorer, to start. He has 212 goals in 260 games for Les Parisians. Mbappe has scored 38 goals in 68 matches for his nation, helping them win the 2018 World Cup and advance to the 2022 final.

However, it's possible that Boehly would be more motivated to entice Mbappe to west London by the benefits off the field. The striker is a global A-list celebrity with 104 million Instagram followers and one of the biggest endorsement deals with Nike, costing £14 million annually.

For Boehly, there is however a huge bargain to be had. Since 2018, PSG and the Nike-owned Jordan Brand have collaborated to create some of the game's trendiest gear, as football fans across the world have grown accustomed to.

The Jordan Brand, which was first known for its range of basketball shoes, paid a hefty sum to sponsor the French heavyweights. Sports Business Research claims that the 'Jumpman' paid €200,000,000 ($215,000,000) for the first three years to provide PSG with their Champions League uniforms before spending an additional €67,000,000 ($72,000,000) for an additional year.

Jordan not only provided distinctive jerseys but also appeared on other sportswear and urban clothing, including the PSG home jersey for the 2021/22 season.

Both parties have benefited greatly from the agreement. PSG and Mbappe in particular have emerged as Nike's football ambassadors, and the sportswear company has benefited financially as a result all over the world. The United States became the club's second-largest market because to Jordan's work with PSG, and Nike recorded their best revenue in North America.

Chelsea's pursuit of Mbappe will be difficult. The striker is expected to be signed by Real Madrid, who are the current favorites in their 'Galaticio' trend. Boehly has, however, more than demonstrated his willingness to spend money to enhance Chelsea, and a move for Mbappe would satisfy many of the football team's needs.
